Dhanteras falls on Friday, 6 November 2026, two days before Diwali. The tradition is to bring something new and metal into the house, ideally gold or silver, as a sign of prosperity for the year ahead. That is why the market fills with steel dabbas that week. These nine gifts do the ritual justice without adding to the loft: a silver coin, brass lamps and a kalash for the puja, and a few metal things the family will use daily. Prices are what we saw when we checked and the merchant's page always has the final price. Because Dhanteras comes first in the five-day festival, it has the earliest deadline: order by 31 October for standard delivery in metros, a couple of days earlier elsewhere.
- 1
Gold-Plated Laxmi Ganesh Pair
Dhanteras is when new Lakshmi-Ganesh idols come home for Diwali puja, and this gold-plated metal pair is the best-reviewed one at this price.
- 2
One-Gram Silver Coin
Buying silver on Dhanteras is the whole point of the day, and a 1 gram 999 Lakshmi-Ganesh coin lets you gift one to every cousin.
- 3
Brass Crystal Akhand Diya
Dhanteras evening is when the first diya of Diwali is lit for Yama, and a covered akhand diya keeps it burning all night.
- 4
Diamond-Cut Brass Kalash
Buying a new brass or copper utensil on Dhanteras is the oldest version of the ritual, and a diamond-cut brass kalash is both puja vessel and gift.
- 5
Twelve Brass Diyas Set
Thirteen diyas are lit on Dhanteras night, so a dozen brass ones in a box is a gift that goes straight into use.

Kitchen appliances are the top Dhanteras buy after gold and silver, and a compact 500 W Nutri-blend with two jars suits a new couple's first kitchen.
- 9
Gold Stanton Casserole Set
New steel utensils are the Dhanteras purchase in most homes, and a three-piece stainless casserole set with glass lids is the gift-box version of that.
Good questions 🙋
What should I buy on Dhanteras 2026?＋
Something metal, ideally gold or silver, entering the home on the day: a silver coin, a brass diya or kalash, or a steel item the family will use. A broom is also traditional.
Can I gift on Dhanteras instead of Diwali?＋
Yes. Dhanteras gifts are traditionally metal and practical, while Diwali gifts are broader. A brass lamp given on Dhanteras is used two days later at Lakshmi Puja.
What is the last date to order Dhanteras gifts?＋
31 October for standard delivery in metros. Dhanteras is 6 November and it is the first festival day, so it has the earliest deadline of the season.
